Book review of VICIOUS by V.E.Schwab.

Image
A darker world, a story between two friends -turned foes. Each one, struggling to pursue what feels right to them. Neither of them is completely wrong, nor completely right, yet the turmoil amidst them would be gravitating. And this is exactly what the setting of VICIOUS by V.E.Schwab looks and feels like.  One-line review: ‘A masterful narrative, unique in its way. Taking off from nothingness and leaving the reader in a realm of myriad emotions, betrayal, love, and turmoil.’ Extended review:   Plot synopsis:{spoiler free} The book starts with two happy go lucky friends named Eli Cardale (Ever) and Victor Vale. The duo begins, with a summer holiday project about the effects of adrenaline (epinephrine) which induces unmatched powers, far more beyond our imagination especially when administered in a NEAR DEATH situation. And this would trigger a  person to acquire new powers, according to what they deserve and believe. In this process, Eli obtains the power of Heali...

Review of- Midnight Contemplation by Arsal Tariq

Image
Midnights have always been intimidating. They give us ample of time to think and introspect about life which we usually   overlook in the chaotic mornings. Peeping into oneself has always been a positive prospect of life owing to greater changes in nea r future of our lives. As we speak of nights which give us revelations, I stumbled upon this book "Midnight Contemplation" by Arsal Tariq. One line review of the book: "Suggestive work, value adding in your life, certainly revolving around emotions as love and grief." Extended review: Essentially being a poetry book (anthology) this book takes off with the title "Lost in Vibes" which clasps the speculation of the author, when he finds himself amidst nowhere, and no clue to get out of it. I was quickly intrigued by the title and proceeded further only to find grossly introspective aspects in this poem. The book was perfectly structured, and each poem(each stanza to be specific) was elaborately described. Mid...

If you crave to find myriad poetic lines among the pages of a novel, then you have landed in the right place, THE GOD OF SMALL THINGS, by ARUNDHATI ROY, is no less to any poetic perfection, which certainly deserves a booker prize for the immense usage of literature in a nuance and subtle manner.  My reason to pick this book was primarily due to the curiosity which I built when I was studying general knowledge and the question appeared asking who was the first Indian to win booker prize. ARUNDHATI ROY has carved out the true crux of the divergent aspects of society which she wanted to present through the plot she has created.  Summarised plot( spoiler free): The story revolves around twins Esthappen and Rahel and Ammu (mother of Esthappen and Rahel)  and the chronicles which further lead into the plot. Ammu is a divorcee and later falls in love with a lower caste person called Velutha with whome Ammu shared her childhood. The stroy proceeds to find how Ammu's relations ...
