Review of- Midnight Contemplation by Arsal Tariq
Midnights have always been intimidating. They give us ample of time to think and introspect about life which we usually overlook in the chaotic mornings. Peeping into oneself has always been a positive prospect of life owing to greater changes in near future of our lives.
As we speak of nights which give us revelations, I stumbled upon this book "Midnight Contemplation" by Arsal Tariq.
One line review of the book:
"Suggestive work, value adding in your life, certainly revolving around emotions as love and grief."
Extended review:
Essentially being a poetry book (anthology) this book takes off with the title "Lost in Vibes" which clasps the speculation of the author, when he finds himself amidst nowhere, and no clue to get out of it. I was quickly intrigued by the title and proceeded further only to find grossly introspective aspects in this poem.
The book was perfectly structured, and each poem(each stanza to be specific) was elaborately described.
Midnight Contemplation dwindles between first person and sometimes third person formats, which might create either progressive or regressive impact on the readers.
Even in his debut book Arsal Tariq the author, has done a stunning job in compiling his spectrum of thoughts , which were presented without any pauses or breaks.
Titles suggestive in the anthology were really captivating, and the charm the poems possessed, has to be appreciated at all costs.
The vocabulary used, was good, but I expected much more proper terms to be put down at the right places.
Appreciated aspects of book:
• Attention grabbing poetry
• Elaborate description of the poems and supportive information to prove it.
• Mere pauses in the book which maintains the essential flow.
• Highly appreciable way of penning down muses, which were appealing.
Repelling aspects of the book
• Grammatical and spelling errors
• Substandard navigation.
RATINGS:
I don't gauge books out of points, but who doesn't like ratings ??
I would rate this book a 5 out of 10
Division of the points :
2 points- For flawless writing style
2 points - For painstaking poetry
1 point - For smoothly switching from prose to poetry and vice versa.
(-3) Points - Spelling errors and grammatical errors
(-2) Points - For switching perspectives which was rough at times.
I heartily thank the author for sending me a copy of his book in exchange for an honest review.
